After a long wait Ironman has finally arrived in China. The city of Haikou on China’s tropical Hainan Island has been chosen as the venue for this historic race. In a world first an Ironman and Ironman 70.3 race will be held at the same venue on the same day. The race is an officially licensed event of the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) and will be sanctioned by CTSA, China’s triathlon association. 50 qualifying slots for the Ironman Triathlon World Championships in Hawaii will be up for grabs. Promoted under the “Run Paradise!” slogan, The Thai resort island of Phuket will host the third edition of the Laguna Phuket International Marathon™. Almost 4,000 participants joined the event in 2007 and some 6,000 runners and walkers are expected to attend the event in 2008. The event scheduled for Sunday 15 June 2008, will allow locals and foreign participants from more than 30 countries to discover the beautiful landscapes and famous beaches of the island while participating in a world class event in a world class destination. The second annual Bali International Triathlon will take place on June 29, 2008 at the Four Seasons Resort at Jimbaran Bay. This Olympic distance event, the only triathlon ever to be held in Bali, is a unique destination race combining a luxurious race setting with a challenging course. More than 150 athletes competed in the first edition and many more are expected to take part in this race in one of the most spiritual places in Asia. Read More |

Now in its fifeenth year, the Laguna Phuket Triathlon is considered Southeast Asia’s premier triathlon event with one of the most challenging and spectacular bike and run courses on the triathlon calendar. Defending champions Liz Blatchford and Massimo Cigana are expected to compete again to defend their titles but will face strong opposition from some of the finest pro athletes in the world. The event will again feature an age group competition, the Herbalife Corporate Challenge Team Relay and a 6Km Fun Run.
